At Rust Belt Sport Fishing, I specialize in walleye, bass, salmon, trout and perch fishing charters. My goal is to ensure you have an unforgettable experience on the beautiful waters of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.

As an accomplished Tournament angler with over 25 year of experience on Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Your trip will be more than just filling a cooler with your target species. You will gain knowledge and hands on experience, on how I target fish and the methods I use to both tournament fish and charter fish.

Licensed and Insured

With Rust Belt Sport Fishing you will fish with myself Capt. Kyle Kokanovich, a USCG Master Licensed Captain aboard a fully insured and coast guard inspected vessel.

Lake Ontario fishing dates

March - April: Lake Trout, Brown Trout, Coho Salmon

May: King Salmon, Lake Trout

July - August: King Salmon, Steelhead, Coho Salmon, Brown Trout

Lake Erie fishing dates

March - April: Bass, Perch

Licenses (MUST HAVE)

All anglers over 16 years of age are required to have a New York State fishing license for the days you will be fishing. Licenses can be purchased online through the New York State Dept of Environmental Conservation website or at any of our local issuing agents here in NYS.

Clothing

In the fall, spring and winter months dress as if you are skiing or snowmobiling. Hand-warmers, foot warmers, wool socks, and layers. Keep in mind you can always remove a layer.

In the summer months don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, and comfortable shoes. Summer mornings are often very cool, we suggest bringing a light jacket or sweatshirt for the morning ride out.

Remember: It is always easier to remove layers than add them. However you think you should dress, dress for 10 degrees cooler, as it is always colder on the water.

Food and Drinks

Most people bring their lunches and beverages as the trips could last about seven hours.

Bring a small cooler for any items you plan to bring.

Fish Cooler

When transporting your delicious catch home its recommended you have a cooler with ice to preserve your catch during your ride home.

All fish are cleaned and placed in Zip lock bags by your captain after fishing (Perch Excluded).

** Please leave fish cooler in your vehicle while fishing.
